"With a tear in my eye, this is the greatest moment of my life." -Ric Flair
As we all know, every woman has dreamt about their wedding day since they were old enough to walk. As the date gets closer, they get more and more excited until the big day comes and it’s everything they dreamed it could be. As for guys, we also enjoy the wedding day, but who are we kidding? It’s not our day; it belongs to the bride.
I can’t think of anything in a man’s life that we get excited for as much as women get excited for their wedding day. As a matter of fact, the only thing that can even come close is the Superbowl or Wrestlemania. Unfortunately for me, I have not had the opportunity to go to a Superbowl or to a Wrestlemania…until now!
That’s right guys, I will be going to WRESTLEMANIA 28!!! I’m so excited I can’t even hold the girly giggles that blurt out of my mouth as I type this.
I have been looking forward to this for the past year, ever since Podswoggle’s Chris Mullet popped the big question. I’ll never forget: He took me out to dinner…it was at Sonic, but we’ve known each other for years, so he knew it was my favorite restaurant. As I went to take a bite out of my corndog, he got down on one knee and asked me if I wanted to go to Wrestlemania. Now, he may have knelt down on one knee to pick up the ketchup packet he dropped, but I’d like to think he’s more of a traditional guy. I shouted yes and the other four tables around us clapped as we hugged in pure male bliss. I may be a little foggy on the details, but that’s how it replays in my head.
Since then, it’s been planning and planning and more planning. Who would we be inviting? What would we be wearing? What are we going to do for food? Luckily, Vince McMahon chose Sunlife Stadium as the venue, so one of our big decisions was already made for us.
We decided to keep it a small event, so we only invited 15 of our closest friends. Sure, some people may have been left out, but this is a special moment in our lives and we can’t afford to have too many people attend it. As of right now, we have some pre-event festivities tentatively planned. The will be an ROH show the night before Wrestlemania and also a $5 Wrestling show that our friend Colt Cabana will be holding in our honor -- at least we’d like to think so. Our evening attire just came in from the Swoggle Shop and, as of right now, I have three dress changes planned…one for the pre-event festivities, one for the tailgate, and one for the actual event. It didn’t take me long to find what I would be wearing for the big moment. As soon as I put it on, I lit up like the Fourth of July. As it’s supposed to be, Mullet has not seen me in it yet, but when he does, he will know he made the right choice asking me to Wrestlemania. (Between you and me, it’s an American Apparel shirt with the Podswoggle logo on it. You can view it here.) For good luck, I have also planned ahead with the whole “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” tradition.
Something Old: Myself…I’m the oldest one in the group, so this one was easy.
Something New: I’ve got new underwear for Wrestlemania…for most people this isn’t a big deal, but just ask my fiancé Lauren…this is a big moment in my life.
Something Borrowed: Mullet’s Money…I still owe him money for the Wrestlemania tickets.
Something Blue: This one was hard. It was going to be a Sin Cara mask, but I was afraid I would tear my ACL walking up the stairs to our seats at Wrestlemania, so I decided to go with beer. I will be drinking the always classy PBR. Pabst BLUE Ribbon.
As of right now, everything seems to be going great and according to planm and I haven’t even turned into a Markzilla yet…but there still are two weeks to go, so a lot can change.
